The UQ Science Students Society is looking for new executives to join the executive team! By becoming an executive, you will be part of a vibrant, energetic team dedicated to creating the very best events for science students at UQ. Check out our available positions below:
President
- Chairs SSS meetings
- Manages the executive team
- Liaises with the Secretary and Treasurer on major decisions
- Work with members of the Faculty of Science
- Oversees planning, coordination, and execution of all events
- Ensures the Society’s actions adhere to its values
- Conflict management amongst the executive team
Secretary
- Organises and advertises executive committee meeting times
- Compiles agenda for meetings
- Takes minutes during meetings and distributes to all stakeholders
- Follows up on tasks delegated at meetings
- Manages the membership list
Treasurer
- Oversees accounts receivable and payable
- Creates, logs, and organises financial documents for reporting purposes
- Produces SSS budgets, and allocates to individual subcommittees
- Responsible for reimbursements throughout the term
VP Marketing
- Keeps the Society’s social media accounts up to date with relevant content in line with the event calendar
- Designs eye catching graphics for our events
- Create and maintains a consistent brand identity
- Keeps track of page analytics to maximise engagement
VP Merch & Sport
- Processing orders for merchandise;
- Organising the SSS social sports teams and involvement in other sporting competitions;
- Assisting with logistical aspects of social, careers, and other events;
- Contributing to Executive Committee meetings and other SSS events.
VP Careers
- Brainstorms, designs, plans, and rus academic and industry events
- Coordinates and plans our biannual Science Careers Fair
- Communicates with industry representatives and Faculty of Science staff
- Networks with other clubs and finds opportunities to collaborate
VP Socials
- Coordinates events including our trivia nights, pub crawls, and more
- Budgeting events ensuring they fit within the Society’s overall financial plans
- Liaises with external parties to organise bookings for events
- Networks with other clubs and finds opportunities to collaborate
VP Sponsorships
- Develops the sponsorship prospectus and delivers to potential sponsors
- Maintains relations with sponsors and updates them on club accomplishments
- Works with the President and Treasurer to incorporate sponsorship deals into the club’s budget
- Expands the Society’s industry network
VP Postgraduate
- Coordinates events focused towards UQ’s postgraduate community
- Networks with other clubs and finds opportunities to collaborate
- Communicates with APS to find ways we can work with them for events
General Executive
- Attends Market Day and recruits new members
- Postering around campus to promote upcoming events
- Brainstorming ideas for events and helping with logistical aspect of events
